Steering Connect lets an author write through a compatible connected assistant while BookWriter preserves the approved blueprint, Author Voice Contract, chapter cursor, accepted versions, continuity, recovery state, and exports. The assistant account and its fees are separate from BookWriter.

- Active books: 1
- Included offer: 1 persistent Connect book per account, not per month
- Initial accepted-word limit: 50,000
- Earned accepted-word limit: 100,000 permanently on the original free book after 3 qualified referrals
- Qualified referral: a different referred author verifies a new account and starts that account's included free Connect book
- Includes: blueprint, Author Voice Contract, chapter packets, bounded continuity, accepted-chapter versions, safe resume and retry behavior

## Active-book definition

Active means writable now. Finishing, archiving, or deleting a book frees the slot. This is not a lifetime-book limit. Deleting the original free book does not grant another free book.

## Cancellation behavior

Cancellation deletes nothing. The original included book returns to the 50,000-word free limit, or keeps the permanent 100,000-word limit if the referral reward was earned. Other paid-plan books remain preserved and readable but require paid access for further connected writing.

## Export distinction

Manual export is not paywalled: every author can export the current saved manuscript from BookWriter as EPUB, PDF, DOCX, or Markdown. Pro's publication allowance is for agent-orchestrated, versioned, immutable publication snapshots and automated EPUB/PDF rendering. BookWriter prepares files but does not upload to a retailer or guarantee retailer acceptance.
