Module 11 · Lesson 5 of 5

Plan the next film from your book.

A short film can be a pitch: it shows a producer what your book looks like on screen. Then decide what you’ll make next.

Watch

Relationship Goals, Episode 1 (3:06)

A 3-minute episode, made tall for phones. Notice how a longer film is still built from short shots.

The steps

  1. A short film can be a pitch. A pitch is a quick way to show your story to someone who could make it bigger.

  2. It shows a producer what your book looks like on screen, in less than a minute.

Send the link to your film with one line about the book. Keep the message short.

Your next step

  1. Your next film can be a longer scene, an episode, or the whole book as a film.

  2. A longer scene: two or three minutes from the same chapter. The same steps, with more shots.

  3. An episode: the opening of your book, about five minutes. Plan it as a few short scenes.

  4. The whole book as a film is a much bigger job. Most people start with a scene or an episode.

Made for you

  1. Want a longer film done for you? BookWriter makes the AI Skit, the Episode and the Full Movie.

Do this now

Write one line about the next film you’d make from this book.

Check yourself

  • Do you know which part of your book you’d film next?
  • Is it a longer scene, an episode or the whole book?

If any answer is no, go back over the steps, or look below.

Stuck?

I don’t know which part to film next.
Pick the chapter readers mention most, or the one with the biggest turn.
I don’t know any producers.
Post the film first. Then search for film groups and festivals near you, and share it there.
A longer film feels too big.
Make one more short scene first. Each one teaches you the steps faster.
