Module 3 · Lesson 5 of 6

Get your first script free.

Your first script is free: a 1 to 3 minute skit or a commercial up to 1 minute, one per account. Start from your one-page story or a page of your book, and it goes straight into My Films.

The steps

  1. Tap Get your first script free below. It opens the script box at the top of the course home page.

Already made it before Lesson 1? It’s your first film in My Films, and in the script box below.

  2. Paste your one-page story into the box. Book door: paste the part of your chapter your scene comes from instead.

  3. Pick Skit (one scene, acted out) or Commercial (an ad for your book), then the length.

  4. Tap Write my free script. Sign in, or make your free account, if you haven’t yet.

Signing in is what keeps it to one free script per account. What you typed waits for you while you sign in.

  5. Your script appears in about half a minute. It goes into My Films as a film, with the people in it already on your casting sheets.

Make it yours

  1. Want something changed? Write what should change under your script and tap Rewrite it. You can do that a few times a day.

  2. Read it out loud with a stopwatch. Cut until it fits your length, right in the script box below.

Fill it in here. It saves as you type, and later lessons use it.

Do this now

Get your free script, then read it out loud and time it.

Check yourself

  • Is your free script in My Films?
  • Did you read it out loud and time it?
  • Does it fit the length you chose?

If any answer is no, go back over the steps, or look below.

Stuck?

It says I already used my free script.
Each account gets one. Sign in with the account you used before. Your script is in My Films.
The script is longer than I want.
Cut the setup and start later, the way lesson 6 shows. Then time it again.
I want it changed.
Under your script on the course home page, write what should change and tap Rewrite it. Or edit it yourself in the script box below.
