Module 8 · Lesson 1 of 8
Pick your studio and your plan.
This course makes films in Google Flow, Google’s AI studio. Here you pick the plan that fits your film, sign up, and stop it renewing if you need only one month.
The steps
The course uses Google Flow. It comes with a Google AI plan. One plan makes your pictures, video, voices and lips.
The same steps work in other studios, like OpenArt and Higgsfield. They have their own buttons.
You must be 18 or older to use it. That is Google’s rule (opens in a new tab), and Google may ask you to confirm your age.
Google’s terms (opens in a new tab) say Google won’t claim ownership of what you make. Read them before you use a film in an ad.
Using a film to sell your book is commercial use. Google’s terms don’t say outright that it is allowed.
What any studio must do
Whatever studio you use, check it does four things.
The same face in every shot. Talking shots. A plan that allows commercial use. Enough credits for three times your film’s length.
Why three times? Beginners make about 3 minutes of footage for every minute they keep. Many tries come out wrong.
Pick your plan
Open the costs table. It compares Flow’s plans with the other studios.
Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month. It gives 200 credits a month, plus Flow’s free daily credits.
Google lists 50 free credits a day. A 1-minute film of about 8 shots fits on Plus if you use them on about six days. More shots need more days. Plus members can’t buy extra credits.
Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month. Its 1,000 credits cover a 1-minute film without the daily credits.
You need a Google account. If you use Gmail, you already have one.
Tap Open Google’s plans page below. Find Google AI Plus or Google AI Pro, and tap the button under it.
Sign in with your Google account and pay. Use the same account for everything in this module.
Use a computer for this module if you can. Google says Flow works best on a computer, in Chrome.
Google says phones and other browsers aren’t fully ready for Flow yet. On a phone, Google offers the Google Flow app; its buttons may sit in other places.
Open Flow. Type flow.google.com in the address bar and press Enter.
Typing labs.google/flow takes you to the same place.
Stop it renewing
A Google AI plan has automatic renewal. It charges you again every month until you turn it off.
Need only one month? Cancel now. Google says you keep the plan until the end of the month you paid for.
Computer
Go to one.google.com. Click Settings, then Cancel membership. Click Cancel membership again to confirm.
Android
Open the Google One app. Tap Menu, then Settings, then Cancel membership. Tap Cancel membership again.
iPhone
Paid in the App Store? Open App Store, tap your name or picture, then Subscriptions. Tap Google One, then Cancel Subscription.
You should see a message that it’s cancelled. Google’s steps are on its cancel page (opens in a new tab).
Do this now
Sign up for the plan you picked from the costs table.
Check yourself
- Are you 18 or older?
- Do you know whether your plan is AI Plus or AI Pro?
- If you need only one month, did you turn off automatic renewal?
If any answer is no, go back over the steps, or look below.
Stuck?
- Flow says I need a plan, but I paid.
- You may be signed in to another Google account. Click your picture at the top right of Flow and switch to the account you paid with.
- I can’t find Cancel membership.
- You may have paid through Apple or Google Play. On iPhone, open App Store, then Subscriptions. On Android, open Play Store, tap your picture, then Payments & subscriptions.
- Flow looks broken on my phone.
- Use a computer with Chrome if you can. On a phone, use the Google Flow app instead of the browser.
Still stuck? Email info@bookwriter.vip and say which lesson you’re on. A person reads every message and writes back.
