Module 4 · Lesson 5 of 5
Leave out what AI still gets wrong.
A few things AI still can’t draw well. Keep them out of your frame and your film looks real.
The steps
Four things to keep out
Close shots of hands doing detailed things: typing, writing, tying a knot, counting money. AI still adds fingers or bends them wrong.
Crowds with faces you can read. AI fills a crowd with strange, melted faces.
Need people around? Show only your main characters, and let us hear the others.
Signs and words: shop signs, posters, writing on the wall, a letter on screen. AI scrambles the letters.
Want your book’s title on screen? Add your real cover in the editor at the end, not inside a shot.
Mirrors. AI gets reflections wrong: the person in the mirror doesn’t match, or moves on their own.
Check your shot plan
Read your shot plan line by line. Mark any shot that needs one of the four.
Rewrite each marked shot so it shows the same moment without it.
Hands typing a message becomes her face, lit by the phone screen. A crowded party becomes the two of them in a quiet corner, with party noise from the next room.
For signs and mirrors, let a person do the work.
A sign that says “Joe’s Diner” becomes Joe saying, “Welcome to the diner.” A look in the mirror becomes a look at the person she’s talking to.
Read each new line out loud. If the moment still makes sense, it works.
Your film
My FilmsFill it in here. It saves as you type, and later lessons use it.
Do this now
Check your shot plan and rewrite any shot that needs hands, a crowd, words or a mirror.
Check yourself
- Is every shot free of hands doing detailed things?
- Is every shot free of signs, posters and writing?
- Did you rewrite every shot that had a crowd or a mirror?
If any answer is no, go back over the steps, or look below.
Stuck?
- My key moment is someone writing a letter.
- Show a close shot of their face as they write, with the hands out of frame. Let us hear one line of the letter in their voice.
- My story needs a crowd.
- Let us hear the crowd instead, from the next room. Keep the camera on your main characters.
- A shot came out with words on the wall anyway.
- Pick a take where the words are out of the picture. Or plan the shot so the camera faces away from the wall.
Still stuck? Email info@bookwriter.vip and say which lesson you’re on. A person reads every message and writes back.
