Module 11 · Lesson 3 of 5

Write a caption that sells the book.

Most people read only the first line of a caption. Make it the hook in words, then say exactly where to get the book.

The steps

  1. The first line is the hook in words. Most people read only that line.

  2. Write a question, a problem or a promise from your story.

Examples: “She had one night to get the letter back.” “My grandmother left me a house, and one locked room.”

  3. Keep it under 12 words, so it shows before the app hides the rest.

Say where to get the book

  1. Then tell people exactly where to get the book: the link, or “link in bio”.

  2. On Instagram and TikTok, links in a caption don’t work. Put the link on your profile and write “Link in bio”.

On Facebook you can paste the link into the caption. On YouTube Shorts, links in the caption may not be tappable, so put the link on your channel page and write “link in bio” there too.

  3. Say the book’s title, and say it’s a book. Some viewers will think it’s only a film.

Pick the best one

  1. Write three first lines. Read each one out loud. Pick the one that makes you want to know more.

Your film

My Films

Fill it in here. It saves as you type, and later lessons use it.

Do this now

Write three first lines and pick the strongest.

Check yourself

  • Is your first line under 12 words?
  • Does your caption say exactly where to get the book?

If any answer is no, go back over the steps, or look below.

Stuck?

All three lines sound the same.
Make one a question, one a problem and one a promise. Then pick.
I don’t know where to put the link on my profile.
Tap your profile, then Edit profile. Paste the link into the website or links box.
My book isn’t for sale yet.
Say when it comes out, and ask people to follow you to hear first.

Still stuck? Email info@bookwriter.vip and say which lesson you’re on. A person reads every message and writes back.
