Module 11 · Lesson 1 of 5
Pick where to post, and the right shape.
Each app wants its own shape. Tall films go to Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Wide films go to YouTube and the Facebook feed.
The steps
Tall video goes on Facebook and Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Wide video goes on YouTube and in Facebook’s regular feed.
Your film from Module 8 is tall, 1080 by 1920. It fits Reels, TikTok and Shorts as it is.
Pick two places
Pick two apps your readers already use. Not sure? Ask five readers which apps they open every day.
Open your film in your camera roll. A tall film fills the screen with the phone held upright.
Check the shape each app wants with the Video Aspect Ratio Picker.
A 30 to 60 second film fits the length limit of all four apps.
Your film

Do this now
Pick two places to post, and check your film’s shape fits them.
Check yourself
- Have you picked two places to post?
- Does your film’s shape fit both of them?
If any answer is no, go back over the steps, or look below.
Stuck?
- My film is wide, but I want TikTok.
- Export it again tall, 1080 by 1920, from your editor. Module 8, lesson 8 shows how.
- I don’t use any of these apps.
- Start with Facebook. Make a free account with your email, then follow the next lesson.
- My readers are on an app not listed here.
- Post there too. If it shows tall video, your film fits.
