KDP AI Disclosure

Amazon KDP's required disclosure when AI tools generate or substantially assist a book's text, images, or translations. The disclosure is asked at upload; it does not affect royalties or rankings.

Definition

KDP AI Disclosure is the field on Amazon's book upload form where authors declare whether AI tools generated or substantially assisted the book's text, images, or translations. The form distinguishes between AI-Generated content (created by AI, possibly with minor edits) and AI-Assisted content (human-written with AI used for editing or refinement).

Why it exists

Amazon introduced the disclosure to give readers transparency and to maintain catalog integrity. It does not penalize AI-assisted books — books published with disclosure are eligible for the same royalty bands, the same Kindle Unlimited program, and the same algorithmic surfaces as any other book.

How BookWriter authors handle it

BookWriter provides clear guidance on which categories apply to your book at the moment of upload. Most BookWriter manuscripts disclose as AI-Generated for text, with the author identified as the human review and editorial owner.

See our full guide for line-by-line examples of how to fill the form for fiction and nonfiction.
