Direct answer guide

Chapter-writing workflow

Use the latest chapter packet, write the full chapter in chat, and save it safely.

Direct answer

Direct answer

Start a writing session, read the current chapter packet, draft the complete chapter in ChatGPT, and use accept_current_chapter only for the expected current chapter. After saving, verify the next chapter and packet version.

Step by step

The reliable workflow

  1. 1

    Start or resume

Ask ChatGPT to start a writing session for the chosen BookWriter project.

  2. 2

    Read the packet

Confirm the packet is current and note its required beats, continuity, and ending contract.

  3. 3

    Write in conversation

Draft and revise the full chapter in ChatGPT. App cards remain prose-free.

  4. 4

    Accept the complete chapter

Save the full expected chapter with accept_current_chapter, then verify the cursor advanced once.

Why sequence matters

BookWriter advances one current chapter at a time. This makes continuity, retries, and later corrections unambiguous.

Short chapter guardrail

A chapter that is unexpectedly short may require explicit confirmation. Review whether it is intentionally complete rather than bypassing the check automatically.

Textual fallback

If a card cannot render, the tool response still states the saved chapter index, version, next chapter, and safe recovery action.

Frequently asked

Can I save only a filename or document path?

No. The connected client must pass the full chapter text; BookWriter cannot read a local path by itself.
